1. Construction Methods

The new magnesium oxide board has gained widespread application in fire-resistant ceiling systems, with two primary construction approaches commonly adopted.

  • The first method involves directly applying the new magnesium oxide board to gypsum ceilings, leveraging its properties for enhanced performance.
  • The second method utilizes the new magnesium oxide board as a backing layer. Construction begins with the installation of a gypsum board ceiling base, followed by laying the new magnesium oxide board on top. This layered structure significantly boosts the overall stability and durability of the ceiling system.

During the construction process, two key aspects require special attention.

  1. Material Connection and Fixation: Anchor bolts and expansion screws are the preferred fastening tools to ensure secure attachment between components.
  2. Gap Reservation: Appropriate gaps must be left between individual magnesium oxide boards. This prevents cracking or warping issues that may arise from excessive expansion or insufficient contraction of the boards due to temperature fluctuations.

2. Performance Characteristics

When the new magnesium oxide board is used as a backing layer in fire-resistant ceilings, it delivers multiple performance advantages:

  • Structural Enhancement: It reinforces the overall structural strength of the ceiling and improves the adhesion of surface materials, effectively avoiding large-scale cracking or peeling of the ceiling finish.
  • Superior Fire Resistance: Thanks to its excellent inherent fire-resistant properties, the board can effectively block the spread of flames, forming a reliable fire isolation barrier to protect the building structure.
  • Construction Efficiency: The board features easy installation, which not only simplifies the construction process but also significantly shortens the construction period and reduces overall project costs.
